The main chemical ingredient of cordierite ceramic is 2MgO·2Al2O3·5SiO2,main material is steatite, clay, alumina ,feldspar, etc. Manufactured by normal ceramic technic, can be used for loop frame work, insulators of arc-resistance ,element of composite materials ,burnable nozzle of electrical insulators, and etc.
Cordierite(2MgO·2Al2O3·5SiO2)is one of the most popular ceramics for its interesting properties of excellent thermal stability, high refractoriness, good chemical durability .low dielectric constant and low thermal expansion.
Cordierite-based ceramics are extensively used in important industrial applications such as micro electronics, refractory products, heat exchanger for gas turbines ,thermal shock-resistant table ware, catalyst supports ,and porous ceramics .Low-expansion cordierite is suitable for being applied at high temperature circumstance where a good thermal shock resistance is required .This unique property of cordierite is caused by the negative lattice expansion in c axis direction ,which provides excellent resistance to thermal shock as well as low thermal conductivity .Recently ,due to the advantages(low-cost ,good thermal Shock resistance and alkaline resistance) porous cordierite has been used as ceramic separation membrane support
